About Midvalley Bible Church

Midvalley Bible Church consists of individuals who have trusted Jesus Christ and are united together as a community. Using the Bible, we have organized ourselves to work toward the following goals: 1. To honor God and to cultivate our personal relationship with Him (Mark 12:30; Acts 2:42). 2. To encourage believers and be encouraged by them (Ephesians 4:11-12; Hebrews 10:23-25). 3. To share with others that Jesus Christ is the Savior and can be trusted for eternal life (Matthew 28:19-20; John 5:24).

BELIEFS

Our beliefs can be found on our web site at https://www.midvalleybible.org/beliefs. We are a member of IFCA International and as such, we are in agreement with the doctrinal statement found at https://www.ifca.org/what-is-ifca/our-mission---doctrine. A summary is: The Holy Scriptures: The Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, infallible, inerrant in their original writings, and serve as the final authority for faith and life. The Godhead: Belief in one Triune God eternally existing in three co-equal, co-eternal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Person and Work of Christ: Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man (born of a virgin) while remaining fully God. He died as a substitutionary sacrifice for mankind, was physically resurrected, ascended to heaven, and now acts as High Priest and Advocate for believers. The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, regenerates and baptizes believers into the body of Christ, indwells and seals them, and acts as a divine teacher. The Total Depravity of Man: Humans were created in God's image but fell through Adam’s sin. Consequently, all humans inherit a sinful nature, are alienated from God, and are completely unable to remedy their lost condition on their own. Salvation: Received entirely as a free gift of God’s grace through personal faith in Jesus Christ and His shed blood, completely apart from human works. Eternal Security and Assurance: Once saved, believers are eternally secure and kept by God's power. This assurance is a privilege but must not be used as an excuse for sinful behavior. The Two Natures of the Believer: Believers retain two natures (the old sinful nature and a new nature). Victory over sin is possible through the Holy Spirit, but the sinful nature is never fully eradicated in this life. Separation: Christians are called to live holy lives separated from religious apostasy, worldly pleasures, and sinful practices. Missions: Believers are obligated to witness through their lives and words to spread the Gospel globally. The Ministry and Spiritual Gifts: God is sovereign in bestowing gifts. Standard ministry roles (pastors, teachers, evangelists) suffice today; sign miracles and speaking in tongues gradually ceased after the New Testament was completed. The offices of pastor and elder are restricted to biblically qualified men. The Church: The true Church is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again believers of the present age. Local churches should be autonomous, and they recognize two biblical ordinances: believer's water baptism and the Lord's Supper. Dispensationalism: The Bible is interpreted literally, revealing distinct stewardship responsibilities (dispensations) given to man across successive ages (specifically the age of law, the age of the Church, and the age of the millennial kingdom). This is a framework of stewardship, not multiple ways of salvation. The Personality of Satan: Satan is a literal person, the author of sin, and the enemy of God who will face eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. The Second Advent of Christ: Anticipation of a personal, imminent, pre-tribulation, and pre-millennial return of Christ to rapture the Church, followed by His return with saints to establish a 1,000-year earthly kingdom. The Eternal State: Belief in the bodily resurrection of all people. Believers go to conscious bliss with the Lord upon death, while unbelievers suffer conscious, eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire rather than annihilation.
